This outfit is dedicated to our contest winner, Nagalakshmi's childhood memory.
In her words, 'Diwali was always about homemade crunchy snacks (less so about sweets in our home, surprisingly). The women would get together well before dawn and start, the girls would have an oil bath and be dressed in gorgeous silk skirts and blouses with jasmine flowers in their hair. We were neither among the hardworking women or the chitchatting men, but in this wonderful no mans land checking out the latest movies being aired on TV and trying to get to the ripe guava on the tree in the front yard. Post lunch was always a satisfied tired lull when we got out of the now wrinkled new clothes and back into the comfortable cottons. Those days are forever gone but memories will remain'.
How beautifully this sums up what festivals mean to children, a sense of joy, carefreeness, fun and more fun. Which is why we are such advocates of comfortable cotton clothing, even for occasion wear. This outfit sums up festivity, fun, comfort and room for free movement for us.
